The Conley question
If Ohio State's Mike Conley Jr.,Mercurial Vapor Superfly II TF, decides to enter the NBA draft after his freshman season,Mercurial Vapor Superfly II, he will create an interesting dilemma for pro executives. Most have Texas A&M's Acie Law at the top of their draft boards for point guards, but how do you measure him against a prospect three years younger? "You have to ask yourself, 'Which player was better as a freshman?' " one Western Conference scout said. "And where do you see Conley in three years?" Three years ago, scouts had to make this decision on high school star Sebastian Telfair and St. Joseph's senior Jameer Nelson. The Los Angeles Clippers worked out Telfair and Nelson together, and they played one-on-one to a standstill. To date,F50 Adizero, Telfair has been a bust, and Nelson a productive pro point guard for the Orlando Magic. Said one Eastern Conference scout: "At least we got to see Conley perform under the pressure of the NCAA (tournament), against great college competition, and deliver. That never happened with Telfair." |
